The Winners
And here they are — from the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland and Portugal — the seven winning teams of "The euro: What does it mean to us?" photo competition organised by the Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs of the European Commission. These seven winners were invited to the prestigious Brussels Economic Forum on 25 May to receive their winning certificates – each team member had also won a fabulous Pen Drive professional graphic tablet as well.
However, there can only be one winner of course, and when you see the photographic and artistic quality of the seven finalists then you can appreciate what a difficult decision the jury had in making their choice. But a winner was chosen – and the overall winner of the photo competition is "Os matadors" from Portugal.
Os matadors’ winning photo, for which each member of the team also won a Nikon D3000 Digital SLR Camera, showed both a mix of photographic skill and artistic savvy, managing to catch not only the eye of the judges but also the essence and importance of the euro to Europe. So let’s put our hands together, sit back and appreciate the winning photo, and the winning works of the other six finalists, and of course let’s not forget the other 20 runners up … Bravo to one and all!!
